ART and ARTIFICE

I don’t tell of sunny days ,
and past recollections
of better times fill my heart
with deep longing.
the soul speaks its tragic truths
of loss, pain and suffering.
the heart speaks of broken promises
and failed expectations.
a dying man cries out to humanity
for solace as he walks into the Unknown.
I don’t put flowers on a grave.
they are like meaningless words
that trivialize a tragic event:
pretense is artifice.
truth is art.

I like this, seems a bit tame

I like this, seems a bit tame. But I do, I can get inside it and each time I read it, I find something else. It is quite dark though.
I read you're a language teacher, I'm a teacher too, was English, now Primary. Generally I love my job, but do burn myself out too regularly!
Ooooh, now there's food for a poem :-) Jx

It isn't your work that seems

It isn't your work that seems tame - very far from it, rather my limp wristed comment.
Your savage fury runs so deep, it is breath taking. I had realised you were in a bad place prior to your telling me above, but obvs didn't know the exact nature.
I love your work, your skill with words, you must have inspired a thousand minds. Jx
