August

There are places on the faces of the Earth
so parched
the ground cracks apart
There are faces in places on Earth
so parched
Cells crack apart
weathering us
deepening lines
wilting trees
aging us
and the painters and photographers never
get commissioned to capture a portrait
in August

I enjoyed...

obvious likening of faces, places and cracks and cracked earth. The sun does weather both the earth and our faces. I'm supposing that there is much more to this poem, but what I'm seeing is that you should never have your picture taken in the heat of the day. LoL ~ Geezer.
