Berated, and Belated

My parents were "venti" mentors,
my grandparents were demi-gods;

close families, and other associates
did influence me, against all the odds!

I've yet to get things, exactly correct,
so, the lessons I still try, and learn;

someday, if the planets ever do line up, right
then maybe, it'll really be my turn.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as "slap-happy" as,
any simple-minded man aught ever be;

the only trouble with that equasion, I've found
is that I'm much more, a complicated man...than, he!

For instance, my younger brother, Tony
had a birthday, on Facebook.....yesterday;

but, in all of my limited wisdom
I never said, what I sorely NEEDED to say!

So now, at 12:47 a.m.
after having, his whole birthday to speak;

I find, what I'm writing at, "twilight",
is what I should've said.....earlier, this week!
