The Best Things in Life
The best things in life
happens in the quiet
and stillness
of our minds and souls.
It has always been that way
for me.
The best people come into my life
in a calm way.
They are just there,
and at the right moment
in time.
The sense of self
emerges from that serenity.
The ability to think
and seek out clarity
comes from that feeling.
All the deepest emotions
emerge
from that stillness.
My quest for stillness
came into my life
in 2024
and I continue on that journey.
The work I do
to keep that stillness
is ongoing.
I still have more to learn.
About This Poem
Last Few Words: I have always understood the benefit of stillness and quiet in my life, even before I read Echardt Tolle. The best parts of my life have been derived from that stillness. The way I feel and think emerges from it. I never take it for granted.

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet's computer artificial intelligence:
The poem "The Best Things in Life" conveys a deep appreciation for the tranquility and introspection found in moments of stillness. The imagery of quietness in the mind and soul is effectively portrayed throughout the piece. The repetition of the theme of stillness reinforces the importance of this concept to the speaker.
One suggestion for improvement would be to consider varying the structure of the poem to create more dynamic pacing. Adding variation in line length or incorporating different poetic devices such as enjambment or metaphor could enhance the overall impact of the poem. Additionally, providing more specific details or vivid imagery could help to further engage the reader and bring the theme of stillness to life.
Overall, the poem effectively captures the essence of finding peace and clarity in moments of quiet reflection. Expanding on the imagery and experimenting with the structure could further enhance the depth and impact of the piece.
