Blackberry
I fancy blackberry wine,
an earthy flavor
that spends time on my tongue
long after the sip is taken.
It sits with me this evening
amid the sound of robins
laughing at the two of us
as they abandon the day to rest.
The wine graces the glass,
but it's the blackberry
that cures my soul.
My companion when night must fall.

Happy Sunday
Happy Sunday, Jerry!
Wine-making is certainly an art / craft in itself, which I know nothing about, but realize it has a rooted history and strongly connects us to the earth. I guess that's why it appeals to some of us as the libation of choice - for me, especially blackberry. Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a fantastic Sunday!

Blackberry wine...
I think that it would most likely be my favorite too. A good companion for the evening. I do sense a little longing for more than a glass of wine for the companionship. Maybe not tonight, but... Anyway, nice write. ~ Geezer.

Hello!
Hello, Geezer,
You are correct about the companionship. I wrote this poem about 10 years ago after my husband passed away. I found myself sitting on the patio, listening to the robins wrap up the day, wondering why the night MUST fall. Life went on, in a very different direction, but nonetheless forward. Thank you for reading!

I like your poem, but never
I like your poem, but never had blackberry wine. I think it's more a USA habit or perhaps European. In Argentina we have wonderful Malbec, that's world famous. We also have sweet wines, but always from grapes.
So glad your wine cures your soul. A raise my glass of Malbec to celebrate with you. Enjoy!

Thank you!
Hello, Gracy in Argentina!
I am learning more about the wine selections around the world, it seems they all have a special purpose! Celebration of life is a great reason to raise one's glass. Thank you so much for reading and sharing.

Thank you!
Hello, Teddy,
I know very little about wine, but do realize that there are ritual / cultural experiences to most.
Thank you for your kind comments!
