For Cat and Unca Fez

You and I, confederates among the ashes,
find resolve in the face of loss bitter to the touch.
But sometimes it feels like it has never rained so hard.

Dearest Michael...

thank you so much for this gift of the heart. I have to tell you, I teared-up reading. (and I am not one to cry easily!) I felt like you know me and exactly what I am going through...

Thank you!

Thank you for a poem that says beautifully what is in our hearts when we lose one of our adopted family members. The memories are painful but they also sustain us in our grief and remind us that this was the bargain that we made when we let them into our hearts. Given a bit of time, we start looking forward to making another bargain.
