Chimera
Chimera
From Lycia you breathe your fiery air
a lioness head
a portent of dread
Center a goat
you growl and gloat
yes but for how long
The snake head tail
will try to prevail
but alas
to no avail
Long did you reign
on distant plane
a fortold disaster
now try you in vein
your land to claim
Bellerophon and Pegasus
will soon be your demise
dread omen of storms
look to the skies
your fire you will not breathe
upon mortal men
oh Chimera your time is at end
========================================
Bellerophon was a famous Greek hero, mostly known for defeating Chimera, a fire-breathing mythical monster. He was also recognised by riding white Pegasus which was a sort of a gift from Athena for his devotion to the goddess. Bellerophon was, according to Homer's Iliad, a son of Glaucus and Eurymede of Corinth.
