The Comfort of a Cliche in the Morning

She pretends
she's still asleep
as he rolls out of bed,
prepares to leave

Oh well

there's plenty more
fish in the sea
and you have to fuck
a lot of frogs
before you find
a Prince

About This Poem

Last Few Words: seems I'm writing a lot of short poems at the moment, a reflection of the time I have to write I guess. Be interested to know if this one works, as is, or if I need to add some more?

Be careful!

Some of those frogs have warts! Literally! Really though, are any of them really princes? This is a harsh peek at the sad but true reality of life.

No, unfortunately, every frog

No, unfortunately, every frog I've ever kissed was a prince with many warts.

I wouldn't mind kissing one with just one wart. I'd be a happy camper.

Wartever...

Very nice. Perfectly describes the morning after the one-night-stand.
As Anna has said, succinctly put and says exactly what it wants to and no more.
Thank you, I enjoyed the read.

P.S. : For some reason whenever Ithink of the Frog and the Princess story, I remember Mad Magazine's Don Martin's version...where the Princess leans over, smooches the frog *SMOOOOOOCH!!* and *PAFF!* turns into a frog herself....

..wartever....

...twisted fairy tales....

Shrek?

Saw all three installments. The first two with the kids...the last with my wife... as we are now empty nesters.
Loved all three but particularly enjoyed the first.
