the cost of Freedom

FREEDOM
what price freedom?
I know it well.
It is a window in a cell...
with walls to keep obsession out.
Yes, freedom is a lonely place -
and trust (?) It seems I quit that race -
won by those who once had hope,
won by those who compromised
their freedom for a deal.
Walking hand-in-hand with those they chose-
both captive creatures to their vows-
for better or worse - for life or death?
but, I shall never make that deal, for I remain imprisoned here,
surrounded by my walls of fear -
confined by eccentricity,
I am a soul- so deeply 'scarred' -
(a synonym for FREE)-
that love, sweet love -my last pursuit-
Can never, ever be.

Firstly a great welcome to Neopoet..
Your cry has been heard and the healing draws strength from the universe.
Just a thought to hold onto if this is factual.
Loved the simplicity of he write, as if you know that somehow you have become a prisoner.
Always remember it's us that makes us a prisoner.
Look forward to your next piece,
Yours Ian..

love thyself...

LOL... a poet who loves themselves? I thought we were all about unrequited love and angst! Thank you for the kind and constructive words...

Welcome to Neo...

and never say Never! It took me three times to find what I was looking for and now I have been married to her for twenty-six years in Sept. Yes, I have compromised and so has she, but just take it as having worked for what I have. I hope you enjoy Neo as much as I do and flourish here. ~ Geezer.

I am prone to angst... I have

I am prone to angst... I have had so many opportunities... a once beautiful woman, who has been used and found to be unworthy of anything but the beds of the men I loved...
