Nursing a dark coffee
chasing the sugar with a spoon
around and around
in the whirlpool
a soft hue

Let me tell you the
cornflakes didnt
settle
and this walk
was harried
and rushed

But here I sit
with all the other
strangers
and this Sunday
stillness
us earlier risers
driven restless
our fidgeting fingers
chewed red
and shaving raw
bumps from
jittery nerves

The big plow
drops the blade
and everyone jumps
so its not me
and I crack a smile
and slurp a hot burning
mouthful and hold it!

feel my I.Q warming up
like a soviet vacum tube
on our old cold line radar
bases

foxes chasings hounds
and I settle in as the
sun bronzes the frozen
balls of the monkeys
to life...

Another drift from drifting spoons to the dew line and brass monkey balls.
Loved the ref to the monkeys, the old and new, a phrase used from the old sailing ships, where the cannon balls were put on a rack called a brass monkey, when the weather was very cold the balls would shrink and fall through the rack, but you probably knew that, just a ref for those that don't lol
Great write what are they putting in that coffee of late??

when I read...

watching vids of the dew lines..my favourite..
how in the eighties they indeed were getting
tubes from the soviets to keep the old radars
going I knew the world was round!
the old people who tour the old bases let run wild
beautiful now as when in function
like old books of poetry

I didnt know that about the cannonballs
Thanks Ian!

I was only talking to someone about valves as we knew them, I was taught electronics on Valves Triodes, Tetrodes, and Pentodes, no not three, four, or five lines of poetry, but actual valves with heaters in them.
I was talking about the crystal controlled radio equipment and how we tuned them, the receiver by noise and the transmitter with a bulb, these were the so called good old days, except that in those days the good old days were waltz's and coming out parties etc.
Showing my age but I was in Wireless as they called it in 1957.
Uh! last centaury LOL.
Take care out there,
Yours Ian

a beautiful cloud above in the sky

I still look high
for when will it rain
and
wet my brain
since rendered dry....

no matter how much I may try
to decipher Esker
will make my brain
a good hamburger fry!
so I just read and try!

Loved!

a good meal is more then the beginning..
the appetite awakened
the dutiful rudiments of motion
even a tinned meal with thought
and spices can be morsels of
delicious rendering

new meals...one cannot consume
the world
with hunger
but of the where
with all
of what
and when

now there is savoury
business
sauve refinement

sunlight and rain
wind
and shivering

warmth and sustenance
to sate!!

Thank you Esker

for such a simple composition
it lightens my mind
as I can digest
what little of my meal is left
and
as you know in the west they say
mixed vegans and fruits
daily they will ask you to eat
so i pray
more simpler poetry's come my way
so i can say

Ah what a satisfying meal
twas this day
thank you by the way
for such savoury plate
you swing for me today
good day!
some day
do come by
my way
