The Death of Hatred

I told my hatred
to kick the bucket.
Long has it been,
a pest, it seems,
refusing to give in.
forgiving a sin.

It spat and hissed.
"You have a right
to be pissed!"
so says the blight
who flashed to me
the reasons to be
angry.

Common sense intervened
and I stood my ground.
With hatred, the devil wins
my lost peace won't be found.
Thus I stabbed its heart
with blades of wisdom
and tore it apart.

I crumpled and tossed it
into the trash bin of yesterday.
I took a deep breath of relief.
''Good riddance!" I say!
