The Dunes of Hope

The ebb and flow of forces tidal
Eroding the firmament of my resolve
My slow decay of exposed and weathered bedrock
Gives way to the thorns of beach roses
Sinking shallow roots carefully in the dunes of hope

Ah, this is lovely, Rosewood.

Ah, this is lovely, Rosewood.

I like it especially because I had to re-read it, and re-read it , and let the words sink in:

'My slow decay of exposed and weathered bedrock
Gives way to the thorns of beach roses
Sinking shallow roots carefully in the dunes of hope'

For me, this just holds such a strong, emotional appeal...

Thank you.

There is a battle between

There is a battle between personal resilience and external forces in this poem and it comes across very strong in a matter of five lines.
Well thought out, wonderfully put together, a perfect picture of being human and what we overcome. Loved it. Ruby :)

Thanks you all

I can’t express what it means to be heard. I struggle and writing is one of my outlets. When something resounds with someone I consider it miraculous, like they’ve been teleported into some dimly lit corner of my mind and found a piece of themselves. In turn I receive some validation; some thought that maybe other people feel similar feelings and have a difficult time occasionally too.

Thanks for reading
Tim

I know exactly how you feel -

I know exactly how you feel - well, not how YOU feel, that would be presumptuous, but I know how your statement resonates with me: we want to be heard, not always uncritically (in this space) but with warmth, an understanding of what and how we are trying to make sense of it all
