Editors in Love

She was talking about an old poem I wrote.
It was one about her, a love poem.

Looking at it now, in the current light,
we both felt it was overly sentimental.
Definitely not one of my best efforts.

I endeavored to try another.
One with beautiful lines and perfect words
placed just where they should be.

Just write about today, she said.
The stanzas are right here in front of us.
