Elegy!

The time will come
when truths are told
of righteous men
with gallant dreams!

An entourage
of hopeful followers,
that will not bend
with Winter winds.

Their bodies strewn
across time’s tapestry.
They’ve passed the test
of grace and purity!

The Nations weep
the blood of Martyrs calls,
for vengeance owed
to them which sleep.

Their markers lie
upon the stony ground.
Reminding all of what
was said and done!

My only hope
Is for humanity
to find a place
that we might weep!

Neopoet AI (premium) - 5-29-23 version

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet's computer artificial intelligence:

The poem "Eledgy!" shows a clear understanding of the elegiac form, using a somber tone to reflect on the passing of time, the struggle of righteous men, and the aftermath of their actions. The use of language and imagery is evocative, particularly in the lines "Their bodies strewn / across time’s tapestry" and "Their markers lie / upon the stony ground."

However, there are areas where the poem could be improved. The exclamation points used throughout the poem might be reconsidered. While they can be used to emphasize a point or express strong emotion, they can also disrupt the flow of the poem and detract from the overall tone.

In terms of structure, the poem seems to lack a consistent rhythm or meter. This can make the poem feel disjointed and can disrupt the reader's engagement. The poet might consider revising with a focus on creating a more consistent rhythm.

Lastly, the poem's theme could be developed more fully. While the poem speaks to the struggles of righteous men and the aftermath of their actions, it doesn't fully explore these ideas. The poet might consider expanding on these themes to give the reader a deeper understanding of the emotions and ideas they are trying to convey.

Thank you for sharing this one.
I share the same hopes. A timing write indeed.
Seems like humanity goes insane these day more than any time before.
Many favorite lines, hard to choose, but the last stanza rings so true!
Thank you

Hi Leslie

I'm guessing your title is meant to be "Elegy", or is there a spelled version as yours? I enjoyed the vocabulary you used in this poem. A timeless theme of course that has been around for eons.

Hey Les...

This brought to mind, many of the euphemisms, we hear about the wars we wage.
"This will be the "Last" World War."

"We will defeat the forces of evil"

Blah, blah blah... When will we wake up to the fact that man is his own worst enemy? We invent reasons to kill each other, and then invent better ways to do it!
You ask, when will we find a place on neutral ground, to address our souls?
I don't know if we can, but I do know that we must try. Deep stuff here, ~ Geez.

Elegy!

No kidding, Bruce Springsteen wrote a song called "Your own worst enemy " on an album called "Magic" you know bodies hanging in the trees and such. I still think there will be someone or something come and clean up the mess we have made, but not until we're on our knees. Thanks for your comments they mean quite a bit to me!
