EXISTENTIALLY YOURS

EXISTENTIALLY YOURS

Moments of terror
suddenly
cut into me.
monsters dark and cruel
lingering
In my mind
and clinging deeper still
to this “soul” thing
of mine.

red electric
electricity blinding white
shock waves buzzing
in my head
stun my reason
still my heart
and fill me
with existential dread

Excelent word choice, good poem.

the existential dread is an illusion. It is your choice. We all feel it, I'm not denying your reality, but we have a choice to interpret it. That dread is fear of choices not made.

When I read or hear a line of dialogue

in a movie or book or poem and the writer gives a character the line "I had no choice", I vomit vitriol. There is always a choice. It may be a despicable one "choose to kill your child or let the nuclear weapon go off", but it is a choice.

Our humanity depends on making hard choices to abrogate that decision is to deny our humanity. There are always more choices, we just fail to see them sometimes. Protest, sacrifice, dissemination of truth.

We must never renig on our choices.
with deep respect,
Jess

Yes, I do see your point. The

Yes, I do see your point. The choice to do everything to stay alive, the choice to give in. The choice to accept when there are no more "choices."
