Frances resists

Frances resists,
So William persists,
But Frances insists
That William desists,
So she slaps at his wrist.
But William persists.
“stop it” is hissed,
But William persists,
So she sees a red mist,
But William persists,
And out come her fists,
But William persists.
Then comes the twist,
Her lips he enlists,
And when Frances is kissed
She gets most of the gist
So she starts to assist,
As William persists
And her charms are not missed
by Mister or Miss.

THEN William desists.
………so Frances gets pissed.

Thanks Cat.

Thanks Cat.
Frances was a teaser about whom books may be written one day. Sadly not by me.

Welcome aboard!

THE SOUND PATTERN:
resists,
persists,
insists
desists,
wrist.
persists.
hissed,
persists,
mist,
persists,
fists,
persists.
twist,
enlists,
kissed,
gist,
assist,
persists,
missed,
Miss.

The kind of repetition that most people associate with poetry is the repetition of sound, in particular in rhyme. Apart from rhyme, there are other sound patterns in poetry which creates additional meaning, such as assonance, alliteration and onomatopoeia.

Such sound effects always have a specific function in a poem.

dear Onyineche

this word onomatopoeia. I couldn't find in the dictionary, what does it mean?

*hugs, Cat

Hello Cat!

The meaning of onomatopoeia is the naming of a thing or action by a vocal imitation of the sound associated with it (such buzz, hiss)

Thanks Onyinyechi

The machine grinds slowly but gets there in the end - hard work - was it worth it? I'm not saying!

Rather than...

sounding clinical, I will say that your little ditty is a ray of sunshine this morning. Nicely done!

I am impressed
I will confess
T'was not a mess
I guess, I guess

It could have gone South
but instead went West
It's for the best
I guess, I guess
