FUTURE ECHOES

You may not recognise me, but I am you
A few years on, but you hear my voice
I hope you might try to take these words
As one or two things I say that may help
To be everything who I know you can be
A glimpse of the future is what I intend
To show one version of a life well lived
It could be yours, and I hope for you it is
Just a verbal outline for now, I’m afraid
But I’m sure some of it you’ll remember
And apply such hints as I offer you now
That may not make sense at the time
Yet believe it, and cut your own path
Through the jungle of these difficult years
To emerge into daylight yet not look back
I was not really here, of course you know
A future that could and should be yours
Just rest assured that I will see you there
