Glass II

Glass II

Await the sound
Await the sound
Await the sound of breaking glass

The insects march in unison
Unaware of the control they are under
I watch them dance below
Stomping wildly to the droning beat

Rhythm too fast
Bass line too harsh
Await the sound of breaking glass

Flashlight photography
Blinding tired eyes
Disguising blatant lies

(chorus)
Strobe light nightmare
Infrared dreams
Disintegrating
Into ultra violent screams

(chorus)
Strobe light mayhem
Infected dreams
Claustrophobic state
With agonising screams

The controlled dance as one
Unaware their rhythm is programmed
I stare at the carnival below
Dancing madly to the droning beat

Rhythm too fast
Bass line too harsh
Await the sound of breaking glass

Flashlight photography
Pierces tired eyes
Escape they can not find

Rhythm too fast
Bass line too fast
Too fast too harsh
Too harsh too fast
Await the sound of breaking glass

Glass

Their pace of life is way too fast
I can’t keep up, they travel past
Faces pushed up against the glass
I’m way too slow, I will be last

At this pace, I’m in control
Their constant rat-race takes its toll
Faces pushed up against the glass
I try to hang on to my soul

(chorus)
Too much pressure, breaking through
I watch the glass fall down
Cutting, slicing all of you
As the impact cracks your crown

(chorus)
Too much pressure, falling through
Rushing, crashing down
Broken fragments, all of you
Like the shards in which you drown

These people they, will never stop
Will something ever make them drop?
Faces pushed up against the glass
Too much heat to reach the top

In-between the concrete bases
They’ve finally stopped their loop of races
Faces pushed up against the glass
Behold, their splintered faces

Dear Dan,

Not fair... posting two at once. didn't anyone tell you that you have to save some for later? LOL! I like the second one best, and these lines:

In-between the concrete bases
They’ve finally stopped their loop of races
Faces pushed up against the glass
Behold, their splintered faces

Cat

Dear Cat,

I am in the clear because I posted Glass ages ago on old Neopoet and only included it to show its connection to the new Glass II. I have plenty for later!! Lol!

You should already have the second one on your CD.

Cheers,

hi Dan

You know I'm not much at lyrics, so I'll treat as if poetry (which many lyrics are)
s-1,l-2 try of boots on ground
s-2,l-4 change beat to thunder
s-4,l-1 try strobelight ....unless later repeat unacceptable
s-7,l-1 change controlled to robots
short on time to do more than read 2nd poem.............stan

Anna

Dear Anna,

yes I know you like the sound of Systema Synthetica...will be providing you with an album soon...it's nearly finished.

All our music is free for download...its a hobby and I like sharing it...it doesn't really cost me anything to produce, except a lot of blood, sweat and tears, so why not share it for free.

Backstage pass will be waiting.

Thanks,

HS

Dan

I like Glass II a lot the repetition of the word glass reminds me of Blondie, lol I like the whole thing, I can imagine the insects marching to the beat. Especially like verse 2.

I also really enjoyed Glass, there is not one thing I would change about it. I love the rhymes and the strength in it. Again I can really feel the pace and beat in this one.
Glass shattering is really a great image, really gives an effective visual quality to the lyrics.

Lou

Dear Lou,

the repitition may seem over used but when set to music, it becomes a hook for the track. I was only listening to Blondie the other day. My Dad had got a free CD of hers recently as a free gift in his newspaper.

Glad you liked them both.

thanks for the comment,

Dan

Dan,

Used to love Blondie when I was a kid and I still do. Always wanted to look like Debbie Harry, but damn the fates never got my wish, probably look more like Alison Moyet. LOL !!!!

Alison Moyet

Alison Moyet went to my senior school, but had left before I started. Apparently she was bullied because of her size and had very few friends! How things changed for her!

Listening to your music, Dan

Listening to your music, Dan this came into existence just now:

it only hurts

it only hurts for a little while
less than a lifetime if you're a mayfly
but then again,
the mirror's glass shatters in your hands
and your reflection
walks away
to seize the day

you're love personified
and destiny pressurized
into hard cold facts
held in the head,
facets' secrets
excised and cauterized
letting go
of all there is
surrendering to the business
that keeps repeating the rhyme
your poem
memorized
life
immortalized,

and you just dance with the beat
there is no retreat.

give me what I need,
make my heart bleed
and soothe my dying
with your mercurial hands,
slivers
catch on fire

we have gone to hell
and back,
rushing in
like the tide,
against all odds.

~A

ok, your turn to tune it up, if it can be done. ;-) p.s disclaimer: some cliches were used but not
harmed.

Anna

Anna,

wow, I wasn't expecting that. Really like that first stanza and also this part of stanza two:

letting go
of all there is
surrendering to the business
that keeps repeating the rhyme
your poem
memorized
life
immortalized

You even dropped a chorus in:

"and you just dance with the beat, there is no retreat"

I will see about "tuning it up" and get back to you.

Thanks for the gift, truly appreciated.
