The Gogetter

The Gogetter
Was born on the twentieth
Of November 2024.
She took the name
For her poems
Because it gave her strength
And purpose.

Bruce gave her that name
In passing,
Only a small mention,
But it struck her
That he had hit on something.

It gave her
A sense of movement
And progress
And the knowledge
That she could get things done.

That name
Has become integral
In her healing
And what she does
In that process.

It has inspired
Many poems.
It has driven her creativity.
And it will continue to do so.

About This Poem

Last Few Words: I was thinking about the power that a name can give you. It means something real. For me, being given that name, which shocked me at first, was the beginning of a process of recovery for me. Bruce just said it almost naturally, so I decided to embrace it completely. It made sense, and now I can see why he said it to me. I am proud of what I have produced using that name. And it makes me very very happy.

Hello Gogetter

I am grateful you've shared the meaning of your pen name, real name. Please forgive my ignorance as I can't most of the times figure out the meaning of the name..
I have to admit that I looked it up in the online dictionary but could not get much about it. And wished that you would tell me as an average reader who is Bruce, this way makes the interaction between you and the reader stronger, I believe.

More about the man

Bruce was my therapist, who helped me made a major breakthrough in dealing with not only my grief, but lots of other things that I took for granted. He will feature in lots of my poems because of that. He is what I would call a "top bloke" in all ways. Look forward to more perspectives about him.
