If I Had Turned Around

Rewriting Memories

If I had turned around that night and went home
I believe I would have ended up dead
The guilt I held never left me alone
Filling my head with never ending dread

If I had turned around that night and gone back
Within days we would have been at square one
But I would have sunk deeper into the black
Into that cold darkness that weighed a ton

And maybe it would not have been on that day
Or that night or maybe even that year
But the stress of time would’ve found its way
Like death threats gently caressing my ear

I know there are a lot of would haves here
But had I turned back it would’ve been gory
So now the old memory now becomes clear
And this would have been a different story

I can...

only read this as a set of lyrics.
I think that it needs the rap beat for anyone to get the rhythm.
Not being a big follower of that kind of music, I would hesitate to try and give that beat.
I do like some of some kinds of some, if you know what I mean? I get the basis of this poem. I think you just made a decision not to back home one night, and just kept going. I been there and back a couple of times; now there is no more going... Anyway, good luck with it. ~ Geez.
