I'm all right
That serenity and peace
that I continue to describe
demonstrates
that I'm all right.
It is correct to say
that BA set me on the path,
but now
I'm walking on it
all by myself.
I'm living a full life.
I'm learning new skills.
I'm connecting with other people.
I'm active in the community.
I'm trying to make a difference,
for others,
and for myself.
I'm functioning
to full capacity
and in a normal way.
My life is different.
I'm in a new chapter,
and I'm the author
of this chapter.
I'm also the writer
and the producer.
This is my product
and I'm giving it to you
in my way.
I walked into this new chapter
unaware and often unsure
of myself,
but now I know I've made it.
About This Poem
Last Few Words: As a follow-up to the poem about connecting with people, the corollary is that I'm okay and in full control of myself now. Things are going well for me. I'm grateful for this. It happened so quietly, that I almost didn't notice it. It crept up on me.

The poem "I'm all right" conveys a sense of personal growth and empowerment, highlighting the journey of self-discovery and independence. The use of repetition in phrases like "I'm" and "I'm all right" creates a strong sense of self-affirmation throughout the poem. The imagery of walking on a path, learning new skills, and making a difference adds depth to the theme of personal development.
One aspect to consider for further improvement is the use of more vivid and specific imagery to enhance the reader's connection to the emotions and experiences being described. Adding sensory details or concrete examples could help to make the journey described in the poem more tangible and engaging for the audience.
Additionally, exploring different poetic devices such as metaphor, simile, or symbolism could enrich the poem and add layers of meaning to the narrative of self-discovery and empowerment. These elements could help to deepen the reader's understanding and emotional resonance with the speaker's journey.

Thanks Cat!
You never think you will come out the other end, but you do. When it does happen it feels really good. It happened, this feeling, when I went to see the home I lived in for forty one years together with my late husband demolished, the empty site. I felt victorious, that I had taken the hard decisions, and they had worked well for me and my family ( my daughters). I visited my former neighbours, one of whom is now contemplating the same move I made. I have been extremely fortunate to have good people in my life. I have read Dr Ruth, about making connections with people. It is so important. I realised then, at that moment, that I was in a much better space than I have been for at least three years. My therapist was correct. He told me to go away, and just live my life in the best way possible, and that is exactly what I am doing.
