Intensity

All things great and small
This vast expanding universe
Unknowable molecular microcosms
Recede out of vision
Blurred beyond recognition
Likened to thunder with pounding rains
A sultry and welcomed side effect
Precipitated by your furious intimacy
Leaving us trembling like leaves
In the winds of torrential embrace

Intensity

Hello, Tim,
I would love to know what inspired this for you, and I can only tell you how this poem speaks to me. Through the years I have realized we are all connected, much like the practice of Tao. Energy begets energy begets energy. We thrive by conversing and uniting with one another. That thought is mind-blowing and intense - but in a good way. Maybe this is meant on a much more intimate level for you, but I love the feel I get from it. I'll wait for your response and read again!

dearest Tim,

I love it! I'm short on time, so I will be back tomorrow to get a good read for myself.

Well

We are talking about physical intimacy. However, the type of physical intimacy I’m expressing here can only happen if two people are intimately connected at that most fundamental quantum level. Quantum entanglements, that “spooky attraction at a distance” that Einstein talked about. I bet “Indivisible Origin” ties into this. At what point are things not made up of smaller things?

These people are more than soul mates. This is “Twin Flame” phenomenon. In this case myself and my wife. It is important to note that I feel a deep intimate connection on this level with a few non romantic friends of mine both female and male. It’s completely intoxicating. Our conversations often find me crying, for reasons I cannot fully explain. The closest I can come to it is like searching your whole life for yourself and then finding it in the way someone else sees you and realizing that’s the image of yourself you’re trying so hard to be. The truth about yourself that you can only see reflected in someone who cares so deeply about you they see themselves a home in you as well.

Dear Tim

A man after my own heart. This is my kinda poetry. I love anything to do with the universe, I am never satisfied always looking at wondering and sometimes wishing I had of gone into Physics/Astronomy. I'm a true astrophile. I was out observing the green comet ☄ tonight it was magnificent! Sorry for the ramble.

Thank you.

It’s amazing to think about time. How long it took to be here at this moment, in this company, on this planet. 14.5 billion years and somehow in all that vastness people find each other.

"For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love."

Carl Sagan said that and it is an odd thing for a scientist to say. It’s not so very odd for a human to say and I think he really captures the meaning of everything with that one statement.

Thank you as always for reading,
Tim

The saddest aspect of life

The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.– Isaac Asimov

I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me. – Isaac Newton

I love that quote from Carl Sagan! It's one of my favourites. I've copied a couple of quotes I have on a board above my desk. I have over 200 quotes that hang above my head. As I find them I print them out. The more human the quote the more it appeals to me

Always a pleasure reading your poetry.

Carl Sagan also said...

"Perhaps the depth of love can be calibrated
by the number of different selves
that are actively involved in a given relationship."
~ Carl Sagan~

It would seem that you have many different selves,
all of whom are involved when you love.
And you witness for love very well.
As always, you are a very profound poet. ~ Geez.
