It's Raining Today

The rain sounds deafening.
I turn on a couple lights
to hide from the darkness.

There is distress in the sky.

My heating bill is threatening,
but Spring is almost here,
and rising with it, Easter.

We hope for resurrection,
to be forgiven, but yet, perhaps
our fate cowers in the darkness,

facing these cold winters,
where the sky weeps and
trembles in its desolation.

Bombs fell in Iran today,
a savage sort of rain.
Young girls at school

shall never realize Spring.
And to resurrect myself from
that unforgiving darkness,

I foolishly reach for another light.

It's Raining Today

Enjoyed the read. It's good to be reminded that our problems pale into insignificance...

Hello

....I turn on a couple lights to hide from the darkness. Don't we all?

I share your thoughts and concerns, and while turning on one more light might be foolish, perhaps it is all we can do.

Thank you so much for sharing. - Will
