Khaki Rainbows

Thunderous sprays of Khaki
Rainbows
smeared
my view today

The unremitting gloom
of Shetland skies
scurried over
Viking island
rooms

No romance bestowed
in Nordic skies
No ancient runes
bestowing order
and chance allowed

The pig squeal
of wipers on windscreens
like balloons squashed
on silica

Crashing through the
drear dry dock
a caught chain
crusting with ferrous
markings

like a ghost snake
wrapped around
the fisher mans catch

Waiting valiantly
quayside
the ferry bobbing
carrying
her human cargo
umbilically
to Scotland

Nearer to Stavanger
than London
these daily commutes
challenging
in winters wasting wrasps
