Light Lessons
I think about sunlight
and its eight-minute journey.
What was I doing when it began
those few minutes ago?
It probably wasn't important.
Like living in the past,
I shouldn't stay there.

The past...
nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. A thought that hadn't occurred to me before; that the sunshine has to travel roughly eight seconds to get here.

Thanks Geez! I agree with…
Thanks Geez! I agree with your thoughts on the past. FYI - it takes 8 minutes rather than 8 seconds (which is kind of mind-boggling in and of itself).
Cheers

Light Lessons
Hello, Michael,
I once watched a first morning ray of sunshine pass over a long stretch of tall trees. It was mesmerizing - as if it was greeting each and every tree, and then moving along. I was very present and felt the time pass minute by minute, realizing it was over, even as I was watching.
I truly wondered at the time, what if I came outside 8 mins and 20 seconds earlier, or later? I would have missed that beautiful interaction.
I'm just rambling :)
Your poem brought back that lovely moment.
Thank you!

That is a wonderful memory L, thank you for sharing that - beautiful! If my brief missive had something to do with it then I'll see it as a worthwhile effort.
