Limericks inspired by contest
There was a young lady wore green,
her countenance always serene.
She sat by a frog
which barked like a dog,
Thus startled, she let out a scream.
A gentleman wandered from home
and while still inclined to just roam,
he met a fair maid
who gambolled and played,
for she had a Bo-Peep syndrome.
Though buried now deep in the past,
a chest was discovered at last.
It had an old lock
which succumbed to a knock
and was emptied exceedingly fast.
Jane Austen wrote only six books
containing both heroes and crooks.
Though they met with hard strife
heroines found a good life,
rewarded for their dainty looks

I heard once that writing limericks can be an addiction.
I can see this well in you.
I especially like the first and the third. Thumps up!

Contest?
Rula,
thanks for both reading and commenting. You are of course quite right. Once I get the limerick bug I can't stop until at least three or four of them flow from my pen. I am particularly pleased that you found a couple that you enjoyed. I remain ever your servant ma'am.
Ian,
Thanks for mentioning the typos. I must admit my keyboard leaves something to be desired. I will probably stretch to a new one in the near future. As to contests, I am seldom tempted to bother with the like.

Sure is
the perils of spell checkers. Thank you for noticing, you know I read it over after uploading the poem and I completely missed it, and that more than once.
