A Lot of Sniffy Nonsense.
In the land of the Bong did dwell a pong
Wafting on gentle breezes,
As people cried and held their nose:
"What is it? Oh tell us pleases".
But the pong just smiled and drifted on
Over hills and rivers and ponds,
Through townships and trees
Folks fell to their knees
As the pong just floated on.
They formed a committee to track pong down,
Volunteers sent out from many a town,
They hunted high, they hunted low,
They hunted fast, they hunted slow
Inspected heads,
Inspected toes,
But still pong smiled and assailed the nose.
They searched the towns and through the trees
They even inspected bumble bee knees
Pong just smiled then into the church
To put vicar's sermon into a lurch:
"At least some blessing" the parishioners cried
As from the pong they escaped outside,
But no escape from the pong they knew:
"Let's ask old granny she'll know what to do".
So Granny tried every spell she knew,
Made unctuous potions and hot thick brews,
Cast runes, said spells of many kind
Some made up as she sought to find
A solution, alas to no avail
The pong still wafts,
The folk still wail.

A Lot of Sniffy Nonsense
Hello, Alex,
This moved right along and kept my curiosity as to what happens next. The language and word choices are witty, and the rhyme pattern is really unique.
I enjoyed this and can't help but wonder where this "land of the Bong" is. :)
Thank you!

Thank You
Thank you L, just a little whimsy from reading too much Spike Milligan. The land of "Bong" may be found wherever too many beans are consumed. Alex

This was an amazing read and gave me a grin with unexpected ending.
Very clever!
Thank you for sharing. :)
