love letter #81
we came together
more like a dragonfly
with torn wings,
essentially broken
yet able to find colors,
in a world, weakened with grays
i am still Melbourne
tied and bound,
unwashed city with
fewer clean spaces
than you remember
the sacrificial pot,
boiled and scrubbed,
we dipped toes in
and painted references
to holy light
from the twilight of stars
or it was the telescope
pointed into the universe,
from your room,
giving me astral
predictions
i still view the stars from here
small, insignificant things
when we collided and burst,
a cherry red down shivering thighs
i thought you would be there
all the way through all the mistakes
you went to London
and London became you,
adopted the uncomplicated person
i fell for
during the overture,
by the ballet's end
it was secure
it would be our Swan Lake,
a dying within a gentle scene,
played out when i told you to go
i watch the same dance
for so many different reasons now
that's why i wrote to you,
after all those ballets
i miss your brilliance

Thank you Ian
There was a time I would have left my home for someone, now it becomes less likely although I've never said never and yes I have a yen for journeying and people I meet touch and affect me in poetry that I doubt I will ever be done writing it down but the person I refer to here in this series is long gone now with a life of his own but the memories were worth reliving in this poem :)

Ian
I never regret a memory I've made Ian, it's the best way to just smile and know it was an experience.
