Marionette Accountz
slit thin wafer view
the notch knife tales
delusions entrance
the glare of the lamps
the subtle art of life
in sinew hinge
makes heart twinge
the small reticent
play of a band
these deft wing strings
employ the trick
in a mesmerized
gathering
caught up in the
thick
of the drama plot
tell
that hearts belay

In our schools and towns I never saw a puppet show
then when I was in my twentys with my first real woman
a kick ass job and a house of our own that the bank owned
I watched videos from the stores
stuff I could never imagine with subtitles from far off lands
Like the fairytale books my sisters and mother would read
to us children and father sometimes after dinner baths and
bed while winter howled and blew shadows from the streetlight
upon our wall
I marvelled at these talents
how could mere string and wood tell a tale
and then saw incorporated plot lines
with shadow puppets from asiatic lands
russian puppet masters
watched Peter and the Wolf stop action figure
story The most modern version and I was
hooked
