Midnight

Midnight.

There is no poetry to be found in this hour.
No delicate verse or rhyme.
Neither lovely language to woo you,
nor smooth rhythm with which to waltz you
around this empty page.

My muse lingers behind the curtain,
her satin dress desires to dance,
to twirl and flow freely within the music inside my head.

Yet, she hides. She hides and waits.
She waits hoping her small feet fly on their own,
pirouetting across the stage, spinning,
words landing perfectly. Like a poem.
Like a poem.

Like a poem. But there is no poetry to be found, so silence fills this hour.

I join her behind the curtain. And I, too, hide, waiting for her confident pirouette. Waiting for her song. Waiting for the chance to caress her hand as we spin wildly round the floor, words falling everywhere,
gathering in phrases, forming thoughts, emotions screaming aloud - happy, eager.

But here at midnight, there is no poetry within us.
No words to enhance this hour.
Only hiding and waiting,
while the stage lights grow dim,

then eventually fade.

Midnight

Hello Lavendar

Poem at the witching hour, it's 3interesting how I can never write during daylight always at night !

Nice and evocative mixing stanzas with the run on lines is a good idea too.

I'm glad you got over the writer block this time.

Thanks again

Hello, Sen,

Sometimes I can feel her just "there," ready to leap out. Other times, I have to let her be for a while.

Thank you for reading!

Dearest Lavender

If this comes out of writer's block, then welcome to writer's block :)

I enjoyed this as much as I usually do with every piece you write.

I'm a blank page these days... Toooooo much busy to let my muse play :(

Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻

Hello, Dear Rula,

How are you?

Yep, a little bit of writer's block the past month or so, but that's ok.

I look forward to reading more from your muse!

Thank you, as always,

Lx

Hello again my friend

I think I'm ok with all that goes around and eventually decided to go back to on-line studying, which is not a bad thing and yet very time consuming. I'm happy to do so and yet I'm missing doing things that I really like, poetry is just one to mention.

I will visit here every now and then.

Please forgive me as I'm unable to read and comment regularly.

Thank you my friend for asking.

It all sounds exciting!

I'm happy for you, Rula!

I'm taking a poetry class here in my town at the local college. Classes start February 3rd.  Trying to keep fine-tuned at my age!  :)

Warm wishes to you for the upcoming year.  I pray it brings comfort to us all.

Adding my two cents...

Like most of the arts, the authors/artists, we are susceptible to the whims of our muses. I find mine throwing a line at me in the middle of something else going on, and I'm like; "Whaaat, you expect me to remember that?" Best thing you can do, is wait until the music gets so seductive, that they can't not dance! Loved this! ~ Geez.

Hello, Geezer!

I love your take!  Yes, sometimes that music has to get pretty hot and spicy to get 'em to dance!  But eventually, it all comes back.

Thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts!
