Mirror
Every day my life remains
With the feeling that I cannot change
The hurt is worse than pain
Every time he hit me
Was his anger
Because of his life of shame
He was a looser
He couldn't have sex because he was to weak in the game
He's drugs trigger every fists upon my face
In the mirror where the bruises he couldn't explain
Like a coward he said you're the only one to blame
I was a prisoner living the life of a slave
A fist a kick gave me a vision of my grave
He is a memory but the bruises still remain. I am haunted by this life of his slave.
The mirror always wants to tell me that your soul cannot change.
Now I have a new love
Strength courage and wisdom on that mirror I paint

Memories stay
You paint a vivid picture of your stated memories. Wow, was that a brother, friend, or Dad?
I love Coltraine and Vaughn as well…
