Moonshine Mishap

Sometimes, when I see a full moon
hanging close in the evening,
after it's conquest of the day,

I think of the unfortunate time
it had a wayward rocket lodged in its eye;

as documented in the film,
A Trip to the Moon.
Luckily, it seems to have healed nicely

and forgiven the fools inside
when I look there.

Funny...

 I saw that old film, many years ago, but the visual has stuck with me and was instantly recognizable in your words. Well done sir, ~ Geez.

I remember that film too. I…

I remember that film too. I loved it as a child, always made me feel as if anything could happen. And here we are ha ha. Great poem, I really enjoyed it and when the moon is full again, I'll look for that damaged eye. Ruby :)

Moonshine Mishap

Hello, Michael,

The poor moon took a beating, yet there it still shines. I like to check out old graphics, too. A bit of nostalgia can be grounding.

Thank you!
