Motorhome

My high school friend,
the only one I’m still in touch with,
has been drifting from town to town
in states with very few people,
but overfilled with stark beauty

He’s been doing this for many years
in his shelter with wheels
He was just outside of Belle Fourche,
or maybe it was Medicine Bow,
when I last heard from him

I’ve never asked him
what he could possibly be looking for
out there on the backroads of the West

It doesn’t seem like the kind of question
you should ask in a text or a phone call,
but I like to think it’s the wandering
that he has found.

Hello, Michael,
Love the small details that add character and charm to this. Looked up the sites you mention - stunning. This is such a nice picture of the lifestyle of your friend. Seems wherever he goes, he is homeward-bound.
Thank you!

Stark beauty

The ambiguities here are just the right stuff. I don’t even wanna ruin this moment by typing. We are all wanderers I think.

Excellent observations...

I'm not sure of how to classify this one, and not sure that I should try. It is just the simple thoughts of an old high school friend and what is he doing out there? What is he looking for, and hoping that he has found it. Nice stuff!
