My Last Love Poem

I hate that I love you
I hope, one day, I won't

Until then,
I'll cling to every word you say
I'll let you tear out my heart
And say that you're sorry
And that you love me

The scratch in my throat
Begging me
To say "I love you too,"

Instead,
I say,
Goodbye

With shaking hands
And a cracking voice...
My love,
Goodbye.

It's excellent!

Your poem is a testament to the poem's power when it bypasses the analytical mind and goes "straight to your heart." That ability to connect so directly suggests a raw honesty and vulnerability in the writing. And for you to feel the "agony" means that you poet have skillfully conveyed profound emotion, making me not just understand the pain, but experience it alongside you. That's the mark of truly impactful poetry – when it can evoke such a strong, visceral response. Good stuff indeed!
