The Naughtiest Naughty of All

You know Harry and Marv
The Joker and Brutus
Darth Vader and Sauron
The Grinch who'd "de-Who" us.

Hannibal Lecter
Cruella De Vil
Honed Freddy Krueger
Cute Gremlins who kill.

Bug-filled Oogie Boogie
Wicked Witch and her broom
Ebenezer Scrooge
In his thrice-haunted room.

Michael Corleone
Godfather, ill-famed
The Dark Lord of Hogwarts
"He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named."

But do you recall
The Naughtiest Villain of all?

(Da-da, dum-dum)

That little creepy shelf elf
Hiding there above my head
Eavesdropping on my every word
Ratting to The Man In Red.

He and his flimsy arms and legs
Resting near the fireplace
I wanna fling him to the flames
Watch his brown-nosed, blazing face.

Elf on the Shelf is such a fink
Tattling on my every whim
I'd like to toss him in the creek
Dank, and wet, and very dim.

Then one night, I'd had enough
Of goody-two-shoes' snitches
Yanked that elf right off the shelf
And ripped open all his stitches.

Now I'm a happy caroler
I can be my naughty self
Singing this version of "Rudolph"
Finishin' off that freaky elf.

An absolute joy to read

I absolutely loved how you crafted this poem.
You combined a perfect mix of rage and humour, and totally fulfilled the brief.

That elf is sure a zapper of Christmas cheer, and a party pooper I feel.
He's back in the cupboard now, where he can't cause any more trouble.

each of us gifted to ply lingua franca in accordance with how

the invisible spirit moves us, and rather than demean how i process coping (analogous to a rolling stone at the mercy at whatever debris gloms onto the surface), and to couch interpretation of reality bumps up against limitations of aptitude (mine) falling far short of the exemplary wordsmith as identified when reading an author whose talent spellbinds yours truly (who), who feels he lacks the disadvantage of sophistication acquired with lived experiences versus admitting living a self sequestered span of threescore and six orbitz around the sun, yet with an intellect at infant stage, cuz truth be told formative learning years ill suited to being nonestablishmentarian, yet more than a half century ago few and far between options existed for parents to educate their offspring, thus potential of mine got squandered while extreme social anxiety witnessed a perfect example of a budding author withered away as wallflower.

Hello, Matthew,

I appreciate your visit and thoughts. Here on Neo, you are quite the wordsmith, and not the wallflower.
Thank you!

This

gave me a good laugh! I did not see it going the way that it did! I tend to agree that Elf of the Shelf is a creep. My oldest daughter, when she was in elementary school, used to set up a surveillance camera on her tablet so that she could catch him creeping through the house. She did not like the idea of this little creature making mischief and winding up in obscure locations during the night! Her attempts were never successful as he was "too slick." Needless to say, the elf didn't last long in our house. :)
