Of November
It is like one last sigh -
a warm breath before
the chill of winter,
trees singing before they rest,
the earthy fragrance of golden fields,
our hands still naked with no gloves,
the gentle swish of raking leaves,
voices ebbing as the days grow darker
before life falls into a still slumber
as December spreads herself over
the earth, like a maternal blanket.

November
Seemed to go so quickly. I am always sad to see Autumn go as it is my favorite time of year. The holiday season is a bit of a challenge and seems to move with less speed. Your poem was a beautiful tribute to all things fall as we prepare for what winter has to offer this year.

Hello, Carrie,
Seems there is always a big change between November and December - in many ways.
Thank you for reading, and sharing your thoughts!

Dear Lavender,
I often wish that I could stop time in its tracks and have just s few more days of my favorite season. You have brought Autumn squarely into focus with your lovely pensive poem. Thank you for this. My favorite lines are:
voices ebbing as the days grow darker
before life falls into a still slumber
as December spreads herself over
the earth, like a maternal blanket.
*hugs, Cat

Hello, Cat!
It feels like autumn flew by this year, although I enjoyed every second. Thank you for reading my poem! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Onward to the beauty of winter!
