Ode to Mr Rat
Oi Rat!
Don't you think that,
You've been here too long?
Still scratchin' all damn day long.
Still goin' strong.
Hey Rat,
It would appear that,
Youve been chewing wires
Which could start some fires
Don't do that!
Please Mr Rat...
Mr Rat
I can see that,
My loft for you is a home,
Somewhere to call your own.
Living free, without cost or VAT
I get it Mr Rat...
Hey Mr Rat,
I live in fear that,
I will get used to your gnawing,
As life here is so boring
Under your penthouse flat.
Sweet Mr Rat,
Survivor of next doors cat.
Truth is I am so lonely
Maybe you'll come see me.
We could chat.
Imagine that?
About This Poem
Last Few Words: I suffer from Bipolar so my flashes of inspiration come when I haven't slept and I grind my teeth all night, trying not to buy things or laugh too loud. I have had a rat in my loft for about 6 months, at first it annoyed me because he's chewed the light in my kitchen and I have to pay to get it fixed. But I have seen him, he's not like something from James Herbert, he's brown and fuzzy and he's just trying to stay alive. I have tried to show in my poem that at first he annoyed me and I wanted him gone, and he was known as the F***ing Rat but now and as my poem progresses, I hope you feel that I have warmed to him with each verse as my name for him changes and actually I feel less lonely with him around. Yes I am mad lol
