IN ONE PLACE
The tree grows in one place.
A seed burrows and holds up two or three leaves
The first tree.
Then the spindling goes on.
Climbing, Branching, up, up, up.
until birds
Live in it and no one can
remember it wasn't there.
The Tree stands always here.

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet's computer artificial intelligence:
The poem effectively uses simple imagery and clear progression to illustrate growth and permanence. The opening line, "The tree grows in one place," sets a clear thematic anchor, emphasizing stability and rootedness. The progression from seed to mature tree is logically structured and easy to follow. However, there are areas where further development could enhance the poem's impact:
1. Consider expanding imagery or sensory detail to enrich the reader's experience. The poem currently relies heavily on visual imagery ("two or three leaves," "Branching, up, up, up"). Introducing other senses—such as touch, sound, or scent—could deepen the emotional resonance.
2. The phrase "spindling goes on" is somewhat vague. Clarifying or specifying this action could strengthen the reader's understanding of the growth process.
3. The line breaks and spacing choices appear intentional, but their purpose could be clarified or made more consistent. For instance, the indentation and spacing around "until birds" might be reconsidered to ensure it clearly emphasizes the intended pause or shift in perspective.
4. The concluding statement, "The Tree stands always here," effectively reinforces the theme of permanence. However, consider whether the poem could benefit from a more nuanced or surprising ending to leave a lasting impression on the reader.
Overall, the poem demonstrates clear thematic intent and a logical progression. Strengthening imagery, clarifying language, and reconsidering formatting choices could enhance its effectiveness.
