AN OPEN LETTER TO THE CREATOR

Thoughts
swarm my mind
like bees do
around a honeycomb

I am
My memories
My desires
My prejudices
And fears

I express myself
In a chemical stream
Of nervous energy

But,
What about the thinker
Where is he

Can I find him beneath
The seismic shifts
of an overactive consciousness
Does he envelope the activity
or
is he subservient to it
This enigma
I have been grappling with
My entire life

Buddha speaks of
Extinction of desire and
The cessation
Of the inexorable cycle
Of life and death

Auribindo speaks
Of a consciousness
That must come
A full circle
culminating in
a Golden Day

There are still others
who speak
of the dissolution of the body
into the pure radiant
light of a rainbow
Moksha, nirvana
the last judgement
and a myriad other
hypotheses
meant to lift
the dark veil of smoke
that has settled down
on us

The twinkling stars
In the spiritual hemisphere
the ubiquitous sun
shining down
on every corner of the
planet
the flowers that bloom
the ceaseless
heave and fall
of the oceans
the rivers
that cut across continents
seem to carry the seeds
of an inscrutable mystery

They are alluring and attractive
enough
to keep me in dogged pursuit
of some intangible benefit
But,
what am I chasing?
an igneous fatuous?

I do not know
All I can do is pray
Dear God
If you are there
- Any where

Give me a sign
Allow the rapid eye reverberation
to dissolve into a
total and utter timeless silence
and
In that dissolution
allow me to have glimpse
Of the thinker
without the thought
the soul
without a body

So many questions that are answered within yourself, it is strange that we ask so many questions that we know the answer to.
If you think you are a product of God then live by his rules, the same goes for any entity you wish to believe in.
We have always been cursed with or blessed by a mind that questions everything we come across.
I myself will say that it matters not what or who you believe in, in that rcess they call a brain there is a conscious thinking being, if that being cannot see the difference between good and bad then there is a serious fault within the being.
When a child if I touched a flame I would learn from that,
now as an adult if I touch a flame then my thinking is wrong.
As an adult that has had a few years of being taught then if you cannot make up your mind twix good and evil then you need to be retrained or your entity 's rules are wrong.
A very comprehensive piece of writing here, though I would love to hear of your conclusion to life's pathways.
To be a preacher, Go forward with unconditional love in your ways seek out the entity that gives these rules then learn the real reason behind their teachings, Yours Ian.T

Thanks Ian

I tend to agree with you and try to live my life with what makes me feel comfortable. I think, in the end, whether something is right or wrong, will be through your conscience but the bigger questions will always remain unanswered .

Maybe I read this wrong.

There is no creator, there was a Big Bang, there is evolution.
All the rest is ignorant superstition.
Just making up stories for things we don't understand yet.
The bic lighter.

Even if there is no creator, being comfortable with one's conscience is very important. The theory of Karma works within one's life and not after death.

Though I named this peace "AN OPEN LETTER TO THE CREATOR" I myself do not believe in God in a way that most people believe but I do believe that adverse actions leave an adverse impact on one's conscience and conversely, good actions have a positive impact on one's conscience.

Now what is good and what is bad may be subjective but whatever you do, if you are comfortable with it, it is cool.

By the way, Buddha did not believe in God: He did not believe in a soul - He believed in cause and effect. That explains why you and I are here.

Thanks once again, I enjoy your critiques

Cheers

Thank for your mindful reply

I now understand the poem better and may I add, it is beautifully written and encapsulates the Buddhist concept of mindfulness

keep looking for your Creator

Keep looking for your Creator

into the sun for five minutes... you will not last that long ...and if you do... you have found your Creator.... believe in my hypothesis ...Sun is master of the living----- the dead---- the ones yet to be born --- to die....
where does mystery lie
except in the minds of ignorant
who want you upon their shoulders to cry
at least you make them feel
they live in bliss
they will only give you
only a kiss
fall at their feet
don't lose your heart beat
the sun alone will
as it does heat!

Yes, I do believe that one must go on searching. In fact, one should make life a journey of discovery.
