OFF RAMPS

It's been so long I can't recall
anything but this highway
which I've shared with one and all
as time and life both slip away.

Just one more traveler amongst the crowd.
kinfolk, friends and strangers too.
Rushing, passing, boisterous, loud
all in a hurry to get to.....

....where ever it is that they go
when they exit the interstate;
minutely shrinking traffic's flow.
They exit as if they can't wait.

And the time and miles go on
while exits devour yet more folk
some who I depended on.
Slowly traffic snarls unchoke.

Till now the road is emptying fast,
so many gone both strangers and friends
each ,it seems, just left too fast
rushing toward their journey's end.

Now I see signs along the way
that My turnoff is just ahead
and I'll desert this old highway
to take my own offramp instead.

Stan

I'd walk offramp with you. I can see us now shooting the breeze & discussing nature.

Really enjoyed the poem, you always manage to slow my pace & give me time to breathe.

regards

One.
