Response

Shocked?
No. I was shocked in 2016.

Fearful?
Yes. But not enough to neglect the truth.

Angered?
Absolutely not. Anger comes after fear and before regret.

I am in mourning, and disappointed.

But less today than yesterday.

And much more driven than yesterday, too.

A poet cannot pretend to unhear
what cries out from the soul.

Hello, Cat,

With this election, a monumental event has occurred, and so many of us are feeling a plethora of different responses. I am disappointed and heartbroken, but there has also been a surge of positive energy going forward. Much love to you!

dear Lavender

This has a unique Lavender's style. I have to admit that it has gone over my thinking. Maybe a hint would help?

reading this again and again

I could read between the lines how could emotion gradually progress after some kind of grief or heavy shock till it's finally resolved.
The last closing lines deliver a noble message and a clear call that all poets should read and take action.
now I can say I enjoyed every word :)
Thank you for sharing dear.

Hello, Rula,

We, in the U.S., had our General Election on Tuesday. Our country has been quite divided. Some feel elated with the outcome, while others are shocked, fearful, angry. My muse finds herself mourning and disappointed, and so expresses it in this writing.
Thank you for reading, My Friend,

Dear friend

Thanks for the clarification. I read this as a general response to a big event, though I should have got ot as 2016 was mentioned.
Disappointed you said? The coming few years I think hold much of more disappointment not only to the us, but also the Arab world, I have to say. I'm positive.
