Running With Dogs
My dog is running in his sleep.
He makes muffled noises,
chasing after who knows what.
He seems to be having fun.
Do dogs have nightmares?
His eyes twitching quicker now,
he must be very close
to running down his dream.
I hope he sees me there with him.

I do believe...
that dogs do occasionally have nightmares. A friends
Dog that was hit by a car, sometimes would jerk and cry/whimper in his sleep, I think he had nightmares about it. Dogs have many dreams and I'm sure they dream of shared experiences with their masters. Nice story, well told. - Geez.

Probably true about dogs having nightmares, but let's hope they are few and far between - thanks Geez!

Dear Michael,
I agree with Geezer. Long ago, I was owned by a German Shepard/ Greyhound (mix)
(the doggie love of my life) who slept with me on my bed. Her name was Tosha. She woke me up with her dreams and nightmares. I would sooth and comfort her with my voice and soft pats until she returned to sleep. what I always wondered, was: Did she dream in color? good poem!
hugs, Cat

We have two Italian
We have two Italian greyhounds, Cat. The older one broke his front leg last year, so he may see that in some dreams. He doesn't appear to have nightmares though, so we must be doing something right with the love we give him - hope so! Thanks for sharing!

At one time there was discussion about allowing images to be uploaded, but this seems to have been much delayed for unknown reasons (at least for me). I like your idea as well.
