Poet
consider the words
consider the aftermath
of your pen
mightier than the sword
consider the arrow and the bow,
pull back your line
and aim straight
for the heart.

Let nothing stand in their way.

Wow!!

Nice metaphor Anna

shouldn't that line read [aim at] or [aim to] or am I missing something?

I know that different prepositions give different meanings. I need to learn if you don't mind.

You have almost given a License to a poet to go all out with no holds barred...I liked the precision with which you have appealed to a poet..

One of my favourite quotes

which is printed on the back of the Neopoet t-shirt is Salman Rushdie's
"A poet's work is to name the unnameable, to point at frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world, and stop it going to sleep."

Thanks Raj. I give carte blanche, actually. :-)

Jess, I live and shall die by that. We all have to die, I might as well have lived for something. :-)

Lovely

"consider the marrow and bone"
I insert other lines into read lines in poetry
that delights my mind..

I always like your poems
because they are weighted and have density
like gold
or are light like platinum
and magnesium

Thank You!

precious..

It is especially important for poets

to remember that whatever ones intent everything we say has political content. By political I don't mean just left/right, democrat/republican, labor/liberal, I mean ones beliefs that effect the way we vote, work, relate to others, especially foreigners etc.

To consciously try to avoid or deny political content usually places one in the conservative/right-wing/anti-humanitarian/anti-planet basket.

A good write as always..
That all poets should go out with sharpened quill and see things not only as they are but as he/she would like them to be is great and should be encouraged.
The other side of poetry is the Imagination writes, if only we knew each other well enough to be able to say which is which.
It in the main play of things matters not, I will follow what my quill has written lol,
Yours Ian..

A typical Kalishana gem!

very readable, honest to the point of being blunt, and powerful enough to make one sit up and take notice! Very well done!
