Savers

I think the windows in our homes
should have screen savers -
we might choose a warm summer day,
or a cozy winter wonderland
accompanied with soft flute music
and a twinkling GIF.

Perhaps a screen saver
for our entire back yards,
or neighborhoods,
cities, countrysides,
or, get this...
our world.

We pause the media outlets
before they bury us under their doom,
yank out our magical remotes,
point to the screens and say,
"Be gone, blasted bleached coral reefs!"
And CLICK!
"Hello, deep sea rainbows!"

Focus on the assaulted zones
where once forests sang and swayed,
CLICK!
"Welcome home, sweet Orangutans!"

And I pause and bow my head to think
what we could do for our fellow man...
Oh, what we could do.

It would be magic.
(click!)
Oh, yes, I believe it would.

I love this idea

I can just imagine choosing a different scene on a gloomy day. What something like that could do for someone with seasonal depression, mental or chronic illness or even if you need a pick me up. It could entertain children as well as adults. What a creative and not impossible idea!

Hello, Carrie,

It's always so noticeable how much more energy and motivation I have on brighter days. I love the coziness winter and rainy days bring, for a while, but feel uplifted when the sun shines!
Thank you for reading, as always!

Hello, Leslie,

That makes sense. Colors and feng shui awareness affect our moods. I guess that was the premise of this poem. I'm so glad it spoke to you.
Thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts!
