Saviour

When my spirit was shrouded in stygian gloom,
She came.
With eyes of fire she burned away the darkness.
I was fettered like an eagle in a cage,
She came.
Like a blast from the heavens and tore away my shackles.
I was free.
To soar,
To swoop,
To live again.

hello Alex,

"Stygian gloom" such a powerful descriptor. I'm familiar with that river, lol. not too many hero's come from that vicinity. you must have felt yourself truly lost. being rescued from such a place is amazing. a lovely poem, to be sure! I love your language usage and the flow is great!

*hugs, Cat

Nice to see...

this one all polished up and glistening in the sun. A heroine for a change, able to leap tall buildings and with her x-ray vision, free one from the chains of tyranny, flying you to safety! ~ Geezer.

Hello, Alex,
So much emotion and action in such brevity. This feels very regal, and your title is superb.
