Sick of Turkey... Neopoet Random Challenge for November...

Baked a golden brown
like a summer tan
It came out of the oven
sizzling juices ran

Full of stuffing, it's a hero
Onions, bread and more
I was mashing the potatoes
[A necessary chore]

My wife cooking for a hundred
[At least it seems that way]
Making sauces and a gravy
On this Thanksgiving Day

Saying thanks for all our blessings
Sitting at the table
We've been saving appetites
I eat as much as I am able

A week later, I'm so nauseous
I cannot stand the sight
Of one more turkey sandwich
Without putting up a fight

It's turkey gravy chipped on toast
Turkey cassarole
I feel as though I'm trapped
In a gravity turkey hole

That's it for turkey in this year
We won't have another
Not for Christmas, it's a blessing
Once a year, I tell you brother

Sir Gee

This is absolutely a great celebration of a well cooked turkey. Seemed all are happy with it, no body seemed to be sick of it unlike my poor Perkey who slaughtered his wife Hehehe.
Very much enjoyed.
A winner indeed!

Thank you Rula...

It's kind of a true story. We only have turkey once a year around here. I just get real tired of it after a week or so, thanks for stopping by. I like your poem; it is pretty funny and fits right into my feelings about turkey ~ Geezer.

Sick of Turkey

Hi, Geezer,
A little turkey goes a long way. I don't think you are alone in your thoughts. Great rhyme in this one, especially Turkey casserole and gravity turkey hole - like a Turkey Twilight Zone. A nice peek inside the Geezer home on Thanksgiving Day!
Thank you!

Yeah...

Turkey is alright for a couple of days, but then... Wendy got a small one this year, only sixteen pounds, so it won't be like last year! Last year, our son Jody bought the turkey, and he got a humongous one! Everybody was sick of turkey after that one! I think it was like 22 pounds! ~ Geez.
