some distant drums did beat

distant drums did beat
that lonely night
when I was all alone
sleeping in the veiled forest
life seemed to drudge along
there was none to hear my song
in the far distant time at night
I heard drums on my transistor
some folks were like me
in a far off jungle merrying
they must have been lonely too
but they were enjoying
as much as I wished to

I threw off the blanket
went into the open stark naked
none could have seen me
as I danced with abandoned glory
when I reentered my tent
torches flashed at me
guys were watching unabashedly
now they clapped for me..

i feel so happy when

you and Ian walk my stride
and
your true feelings never hide
I have now been slipping less
more I've been sleeping
as anyone could tell
as not many read poetry
I guess
oh hell!
