Sophie
I know a girl, just like me,
Rejected yet gifted
Not part of her family.
Maybe not supposed to be.
Her winnings aren't celebrated,
No plaque on the wall,
Love and limelight Are backdated
Do they understand her at all?
Her silent scream in a paper cup,
Feeling she should be leaving
Only half believing
To never give up.
She fills the world full of colour,
And words that others,
are not to say,
Away from the chaos
The pain she paints away.
She creates a world where others are understood,
The pain of a neglected child,
Melts into an assured adulthood.
She is in control,
With every brushstroke,
She paints pieces of her soul,
Hoping endlessly to evoke
Power and less propranolol
Painting her portal,
She knows how to escape,
Melting colours with tears
Creating her own dreamscape.
You're Safe Sophie, you're understood,
But when it's too much
And you need some human touch
We are here for you
You know what to do.

What a nice tribute for a wonderful child. 😍
The She creates stanza could use a rhyming forth line to keep the pace flowing good.
Did you mean to cap Dare?
Heartfelt EP
Sophie must be one of us.

Funnily enough, we've an adopted daughter called Sophie, and the poem could have been describing her - beset by social anxiety, a gifted artist. Maybe successes would be preferable to winnings. I'd associate winnings with what you occasionally receive from a bookmaker.
Power and less Propanolol - very inventive.

"She paints pieces of her soul..." Beautiful language and thoughts throughout.
