Soul

You sold my soul
That was sick
Frozen with the snow
God
Had my soul
Defrosted for couple days
That was something that
I didn't like at all
But now my soul
Is working fine
Back to normal
In my prayer
I said to God
Thanks to keep
My soul alive every day

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:

This poem explores the concept of the soul through a narrative arc involving loss, discomfort, and restoration, framed in a conversational and direct tone. The poem’s structure is free verse, with short lines and minimal punctuation, which lends a sense of immediacy and intimacy to the speaker’s voice. The use of concrete imagery—“Frozen with the snow,” “Defrosted for couple days”—creates a physical metaphor for spiritual or emotional numbness and recovery.

There is an ambiguity in the agency of the soul’s journey: the poem opens with “You sold my soul,” but it is not clear who “you” refers to, which could be intentional, inviting the reader to consider betrayal or loss in a general sense. The transition from being “frozen” to “defrosted” and then “working fine” suggests a process of healing or return to self, though the language remains somewhat abstract and could benefit from further specificity or development to deepen the emotional impact.

The mention of prayer and direct address to God in the latter part of the poem shifts the focus to gratitude and spiritual resilience. The closing lines, “Thanks to keep / My soul alive every day,” suggest a resolution and a sense of ongoing preservation, though the phrasing is somewhat awkward and could be revised for clarity and rhythm.

Overall, the poem’s strengths lie in its metaphorical approach to the soul’s journey and its candid tone. Further attention to line breaks, syntactic clarity, and the development of imagery could enhance the poem’s emotional resonance and thematic depth.
