A Spider Speaks

I don’t ask questions, who would I ask?
I know when catastrophe is coming.
And every event is a catastrophe, not a prophecy.
The air tells me. That taut silk, plays untuned.
No voice, no god, and no answers.

Your mind thrashes, you think too loud.
Meaning oozes from you, without purpose,
your odour sweet, entirely wasteful.
You build towers, then forget the corners.
That’s where I live, wait and watch.

I make my world from what the breeze brings.
I build, rebuild.
When a thread breaks, I mend.
When it breaks again, I mend.
That’s the closest thing I know to faith.

You step on me,
then ask the sky why your life hurts.

I have a fasionation for spiders, too!

Incredibly resilient creatures, with spinnerets! Was it Piers Anthony who wrote the books, "The Incarnations of Immortality" ? my favorite part was about the three ladies of the web! I much enjoyed this poem. my favorite lines are:

I make my world from what the breeze brings.
I build, rebuild.
When a thread breaks, I mend.
When it breaks again, I mend.
That’s the closest thing I know to faith.

Thank you Cat. I've never heard of that series, although I think I was probably aware of the 1st book, but hadn't gone beyond that one.
Thank you for choosing your favourite lines. Take care, Ruby xx
